Urbinati and Monti expand partnership in nursery automation

Urbinati has announced a new strategic partnership to expand its technological offering and strengthen its presence in the horticulture and floriculture sector. Based in San Mauro Pascoli (Emilia-Romagna), Urbinati is an international leader in the design and manufacture of machinery and systems for nursery automation. During Fruit Attraction in Madrid, the company signed a cooperation agreement with Monti & C. Tecnologie del Freddo, an Italian company that specialises in designing climate chambers and environmental control systems. The agreement combines the expertise of the two companies to develop new technological and commercial opportunities. It was signed by Marco Pacini, CEO of Urbinati, and Federico Papini, Director and Sales Manager at Monti.

The agreement establishes a clear division of markets: Urbinati will be responsible for the international commercial development of Monti's climate chambers, while Monti will retain full responsibility for the Italian market. Built on complementary expertise, the partnership offers strategic benefits to both companies. Urbinati will be able to complement its nursery automation range with advanced technological solutions for controlled environments, while Monti will have the opportunity to expand its international presence through an established sales network and direct insight into growers' needs across different markets.

The partnership will enable Urbinati to incorporate the expertise of Monti, a company founded in 1947 and specialising in refrigeration and climate control technologies, into its offering. The range available to international markets will include seed germination and plant growth chambers, controlled environments for post-grafting healing, phytotrons for research and experimentation, and systems for seed drying and storage. These systems can be customised to meet production requirements and feature advanced temperature, humidity, ventilation and lighting controls. They will complement Urbinati's technologies for substrate preparation, seeding, transplanting, irrigation and handling, allowing the company to support an increasing number of stages in the nursery production cycle.

The agreement comes at a time of significant development for Urbinati, marked by the arrival of its new CEO, Marco Pacini, who has brought fresh momentum to the company's strategy. His priorities include enhancing after-sales support, developing innovative machinery, integrating new expertise and building a more comprehensive understanding of the nursery sector's needs. This approach combines investment in research and development with a stronger focus on sales organisation, customer support and partnerships with specialist companies that can introduce new technologies and opportunities for growth.

Urbinati's international presence also plays a central role in this process. The company has its headquarters in Italy, subsidiaries in France and Australia, and an established sales network. Together, these allow it to operate in the world's main horticultural and nursery markets. This presence creates opportunities for commercial development. It also helps the company to understand growers' needs, anticipate developments in the sector and guide its technological decisions.

The agreement signed in Madrid is an example of Urbinati's new strategic vision: to grow through innovation, promote Italian technological excellence and strengthen its role as an international partner for automation and the development of the horticultural and nursery sector.
