Flemish ornamental growers explore the Polish market

From June 22 to 24, 2026, VLAM (Flanders' Agricultural Marketing Board) organized a trade mission to Poland for the Flemish ornamental plant sector, focusing specifically on the retail market, including garden centers and DIY chains. Twelve Flemish ornamental horticulture companies took part: Botanisk, De Troy Marc, Floramor, Florarbo, Helleborus, Kwekerij De Waele-Wilwoodii, Laurica-Plants, Lens Roses, Neyt-Van Sante, Boomkwekerij Sylva, Van Poecke & Zn, and Vandamme Sierplanten.

For this three-day prospecting trip, VLAM partnered with the local office of Flanders Investment and Trade. Participating companies gained a clear picture of the Polish market through visits to nine garden centers and two DIY chains across three regions: Warsaw, Lublin, and Krakow. A networking reception was also held at the Belgian embassy in Warsaw, giving the Flemish growers the opportunity to connect with local industry professionals.

With a population of more than 38 million and rising purchasing power, Poland represents a promising growth market for Flemish ornamental horticulture. Belgian exports of ornamental plant products to Poland have shown an upward trend, reaching a value of nearly €6.4 million in 2025. This makes Poland currently the ninth-largest export destination for Belgian ornamental plant products. Fruit trees and other nursery stock, bedding and balcony plants, azaleas, and rhododendrons are among the products finding their way to the Polish market.

The trade mission gave participating companies the chance to gain a deeper understanding of the Polish ornamental plant market, including insights into product assortment and the positioning of garden centers and retailers, as well as the opportunity to establish new business contacts to support the further expansion of their export activities.
