Michigan State University's Insititute of Agricultural Technology is offering an online course on Greenhouse Structures and Management this fall. The course will run between August 25 and December 7, on Mondays from 7 P.M. until 9 P.M.
The following topics will be discussed:
The importance of temperature and lighting for optimal plant growth
Cooling and heating equipment realities in greenhouses
Irrigation and nutrient needs of plants and accurate delivery to root zones
Choosing and optimizing substrates for different crops and pot sizes
The importance of air space in root zones and how to establish this during potting
Pest and disease management best practices
This course is recommended for hobby growers, growers new to their careers, and students in horticulture with an interest in using greenhouses.
